Ansitz Montani, South Tyrol: from noble residence to holiday home
Part of Oltradige/Überetsch valley life since 1374
1374: our estate first appeared in documents following the purchase of the noble residence by Georg von Montani. Today we, Evi and Lorenz Eccel, have transformed our Ansitz Montani into a stylish hideaway for relaxation seekers and active holidaymakers.
In the 16th and 17th centuries, stone-built, villa-like country estates in the Oltradige/Überetsch valley style became the favoured residences of the aspiring bourgeoisie and established aristocratic families in the area between Bolzano and Tramin. Built in the 13th century for the Lords of Montani, our medieval castle was adapted to the Oltradige/Überetsch valley style around 400 years ago. The representative central hall, the decorative battlements, and the double-arched windows are typical of this particular late-Gothic architectural style, influenced by the Italian Renaissance.
The many alterations in the history of our residence can still be seen today thanks to the unrendered façade. We’ve been sharing these historical walls with you since 2021. Look forward to a luxurious holiday in our comfortable apartments surrounded by the newly planted grapevines in the vineyard, which Lorenz lovingly tends.
The sun-drenched slopes and meadows of Eppan’s Berg district are perfect for producing wines of the finest quality thanks to the chalky soil that easily absorbs warmth. This, combined with the gentle wind that blows down to us from Mt Mendola/Mendel, means our grapes ripen under ideal conditions. We deliver our harvests to our trusted winery, which processes the grapes into excellent wines. Exquisite Oltradige/Überetsch valley wines await you here, from Pinot Blanc to Cabernet.
